Initial ideas
Our group has only one initial idea as one member had been considering what we would do for a while before we started the assignment. His idea was to create an opening to a coming of age comedy. We would follow a stereotypically nerdy kid around while he goes through his morning routine before school. However it came to our attention that this may not be enough to keep the audiences attention, so we also decided to add another character who would be the opposite to our nerdy protagonist, instead conforming to all the stereotypes of popular teenagers.
Location Scouting
What follows are shots from various group members households. We are still deciding which will belong to which character, but have a general idea.
The layout of this room matches what we would need in order to correctly film our establishing shot, which is a pan from the window, across the room pass an alarm or phone, ending when we can see the back of the nerds head. As can be seen in this photo, the posters of planets match the nerd stereotypes and contrasts greatly with the signed football top above the bed of the other possible location.
The view from this window is again what we are looking for in our establishing shot, showing a typical suburbia with houses that all look very similar. This doesn't really conform to stereotypes of either character, but would be used with the nerd, as it is this view we will pan from.
This shot is taken as we plan to have a shot were the character heads downstairs, in order to keep continuity. This is likely to be the household of our nerd character, mainly as the room matches the stereotypes that people associated with nerds.
What follows are pictures of the house that we are likely to have for our popular character
Again, the layout here works well with the type of establishing shot we have in mind, but due to the things within the room we are likely to have this as our popular characters room, due to such things as the signed football top above the bed, as popular teenagers are stereotypically into to sport and good at them.

As stated before, the way the kitchen looks will have little impact on where we decide to locate each character, seeing as a teenager has little input into how a kitchen looks, meaning that we have to worry less about what the location connotes and more about how it works with the shots we want.

This shot was taken as we wish to have a scene where we see the characters leave their house and start the trip to school. This shot shows that it will be easy to show the character leaving the house and head down the drive.
Ideas For Costumes, Props And Actors
This is a picture of Matt Dale who is a member of our group. We have cast him as our nerd protagonist as he matches many of the stereotypes. He doesn't ware well known designer lines of clothing and has glasses, two of the most well known things that are stereotypically associated with nerds.
